Welcome to the HEC School Counseling Department
Dear H.E. Corley Families and Partners in Education,
My name is Ms. Sampson and I would like to introduce myself to you as the School Counselor at the award- winning H.E. Corley Elementary School! I am entering my 2nd year in the Lexington-Richland Five School District and I am thrilled to be your school counselor! I look forward to working with you and your child this year, and I will make every effort to ensure that your child’s educational experience is meaningful.
The School Counseling program at H.E. Corley is based on the American School Counseling Association Model and our state standards. It includes a variety of services for ALL students and is designed to assist with interests and issues related to the stages of student growth in the areas of academic, career, personal, emotional, and social development. The following services will be offered for the 2023-2024 school year:
- Small group counseling sessions, with parent permission, for students focusing on: divorce, grief, study skills, friendship/social skills, and anger management. If you feel that your child needs assistance in any of these areas, please let me know.
- Individual counseling to help students adjust to school or help with personal issues on an as-needed basis.
- Classroom guidance lessons with emphasis on personal/social skills, bullying prevention, academic development, social-emotional learning, and career awareness. I see every class in the building at least once a month.
- Referral assistance to other programs and services in the community.
If you have any questions regarding the school counseling department , please call 803-476-4005 and/or email me @ asampson@lexrich5.org. I look forward to working together with you this year to help ensure your child’s success in school and life in general. We are going to have a fantastic year!
